Living Plant Walls
Our proprietary living wall system is a hydroponic felt-based growing system engineered for residential and commercial interiors. Live plants are cultivated in a multi-layer inert growing medium made from 100% recycled water bottles and denim- it will never decompose overtime. It is fed by an automated irrigation and nutrient delivery system integrated with the building's infrastructure.

Ideal Applications in New Jersey
Corporate offices & headquarters: Lobby features, conference rooms, open-plan dividers, executive suites in the corporate corridors of Jersey City's waterfront towers, Newark's downtown core, and Morris County office parks. Living walls measurably improve productivity (18%), reduce employee fatigue (30%), and absorb sound (40%) — metrics increasingly required for WELL certification in Class A office developments.
Life sciences & pharmaceutical campuses: New Jersey's dense concentration of pharmaceutical and life-sciences headquarters along the Route 1 corridor (New Brunswick, Princeton, Summit) makes biophilic lobby and campus design a differentiator for recruiting and retaining scientific talent.
Hospitality: Hotel lobbies, restaurant feature walls, rooftop bars, and event spaces from Hoboken's waterfront to the Jersey Shore. Living walls create the high-impact visual anchor that drives social media engagement and guest dwell time.
Healthcare & wellness: Spa environments, medical office lobbies, wellness centers. Biophilic design is clinically associated with reduced patient anxiety and improved recovery outcomes.
Retail & mixed-use: Brand differentiation at point of entry, window features, interior focal walls; from flagship stores at American Dream and The Mall at Short Hills to boutique retail in Red Bank and Montclair. Living greenery signals premium positioning and increases foot traffic dwell time.
Why New Jersey Architects & Designers Choose lily scott?
Brooklyn-based, NJ-fluent. We are not a national company parachuting into New Jersey projects. We're a short trip across the Hudson, and we understand the realities of New Jersey commercial construction; multi-municipality permitting, corporate campus logistics, and the mix of urban waterfront and suburban office-park conditions that define this market.
Early-stage involvement. For living wall systems, we engage at schematic design or design development, not at the finish selection stage. This protects your MEP coordination, your budget, and your schedule.

FAQ’s: New Jersey Green Wall Systems
How long does a living wall installation take in New Jersey? Installation itself takes 1–4 days regardless of project scale. However, the full project timeline from contract to installation is 2–4 months, driven by custom fabrication, plant propagation, and MEP coordination. Preserved moss walls can be installed in 4–8 weeks from approval.
Do living walls require permits in New Jersey? Plumbing and electrical components of living wall systems typically require permits under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, issued through the local municipal building department. Requirements and review timelines vary by town. We work with your GC and MEP team to identify permit requirements during design development and are experienced with UCC compliance across Hudson, Essex, Bergen, Middlesex, Morris, and Camden counties.
Can living walls be installed in historic New Jersey buildings or downtowns? Yes, with proper coordination. Preserved moss walls are typically the simpler path in historic districts like Morristown Green or downtown Princeton due to the absence of MEP work and building-envelope penetrations. Living walls are possible but require careful planning around historic-preservation review and structural considerations.
What is the fire rating for your living wall systems? Our systems are available with fire-rated components for New Jersey UCC compliance. We provide Class A fire rating documentation upon request.
